It wasn't gas, it was a smile!

We had our first genuine smile this past week!!!  I obviously didn't get it on camera, but I got some good pictures while trying to catch a smile on camera.

Back to Work

I started back at work today.  I am less than thrilled about it.  It could be worse.  I could have to take Jack to day care... then I'd be a total wreck.  I think I would have had to be medicated for post-partum if I had to take Jack to daycare.  I don't know how my friends do it, they are way stronger then me.

We didn't get much done today.  I spoke with my boss, and there is a big transition taking place at work... he told me to keep my head down and get lost in the shuffle for now.  I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Jack is starting to develop a personality.  Mainly I think he gives me looks, like I'm an idiot.  I'm curious what he's thinking.

I am IN LOVE with this picture, I'm not sure why... I just love the expression on his face... and the dog hat, Jack was not as amused with the dog hat as I was.

Grandma Luann

Grandma Luann came to town for Jack's baptism and stayed with us for a few days.  Jack was pretty excited about it.

Baptism

Jack was baptized today.  He was such a good boy for it!  No crying when the water was poured on his head or anything!  In fact, he slept through the whole thing.  Jack has a lot of admirers at church, especially the "widows club" that sits behind us at church each week.

We had one little incident at the beginning of church.  Right after the service started Jack farted, REALLY LOUDLY, it got the attention of a few people around us.

1 Month

I can't believe my little peanut is 1 month old already!!!  We went to the Dr. for his 1 month checkup today.

Stats:
Height: 22 1/2"
Weight: 9lbs 6oz
Head: 37.6cm

I don't really understand the whole percentile thing, but for those of you who are interested... he's in the 75-90% for height, 25-50% for weight and 40% for head circumference.

Easter

Jack's first Easter was pretty uneventful.  We went to church for the first time since he's been born.  I've been pretty hesitant about taking him anywhere in public let alone to a place where people will try to touch him.  I've been very adamant about keeping him from getting sick, so when we run errands I always cover the car seat with a blanket so no one is tempted to stick their germy hands in his face.  I figured everyone at Church would be itching to get their hands on him and it would be hard to ask people not to get too close.  I was pleasantly surprised.  Everyone was very respectful and admired from a distance, even making sure their kids didn't get too close.  My little guy slept through the whole thing, and we had to endure all kinds of comments about "How good he was"  I KNOW, it was really hard to listen to people tell us that and how adorable he is... we should have gone sooner :)

3 Weeks

 Jack's 3 weeks today.  I really feel spoiled and that maybe how good he is isn't a hoax.  He's sleeping 4-5 hours at a time at night and doesn't really fuss... in fact I don't know if he really cries.  He latched really well from the beginning and is a good eater and gaining weight.  He rides in the car seat really well, it's amazing how well he handles running errands.  I just can't believe how unbelievably lucky Craig and I are.  I sure do love this little guy!

Easter Bunny

I took Jack to get his picture taken with the Easter Bunny today.  I've decided I am thoroughly creeped out about the whole dressing up as the Easter Bunny premise.  I mean there is a guy (or girl, I have no idea what was in the bunny outfit) who can see you, but you can't see them... and they are dressed up as a rabbit.  It's not like Santa Clause, where you can see what the person looks like.  I mean, I basically handed my 3.5 week old son over to some masked man (or woman) who can see me, but I have no idea what they look like.  By the time the pictures were done, I had conjured up the creepiest image of what was inside the giant rabbit head and then I had to go rub my hands against their chest to snatch my son back.  I might pass on the Easter Bunny picture next year...

Great Grandpa & Grandma Steele

Jack got to meet his Great Grandpa and Grandma Steele today.  They stopped by on their way through St. Louis as they were heading home from Florida.

Great Grandpa wasn't too interested in having his picture taken, but we snapped one of Jack and Great Grandma Wilma.

Easter Egg Hunt

There was an Easter Egg Hunt up by the pool in the neighborhood today.  Jack cleaned house.  He got some good candy and then found 2 gift certificates to Target.  But since he's such a nice little boy he decided to share and put one of the gift certificates back... it had nothing to do with how suspicious it looked if a 2 week old managed to score 2 of 6 gift certificates.
