Jack made his first trip to the Lake of the Ozarks over the last weekend of June. He got to take his first boat ride, stick his feet in the water for the first time, and meet a bunch of Grandpa and Grandma Calhoun's friends for the first time.

Veggin'
Jack's friend Barrett came to town this weekend, oh and Barrett's parent's came too :) We went to the pool on Saturday and hung out. It was nice to visit with them, it makes me miss Kansas City a lot. I don't feel like we did anything spectacular, but I'm exhausted. So the three of us hung out on the couch all day Sunday... as Craig said "we OWNED the couch". Honestly, we didn't move, except to go get Chipotle because I was craving it.

Happy Father's Day
Craig's first Father's Day as a father... I won't pretend to know how he feels about this. I suppose I could ask him to write in the blog about it, but I don't think he'd be interested. What I do know, is that he loves Jack and is very proud of him. I love to watch the two of them interact with each other. He's such a great dad. (And husband... I don't tell him that enough).
I've been told I married my father. I don't think that's such a bad thing (the two of them might disagree with this though). I think my dad is pretty great. He's always been there for me, and talks me off the edge... kind of like what Craig does now. My dad makes me feel special. He remembers to tell me he's excited to see me too, not just Jack and gives me a hug when I see him. I don't know if he knows how much that means to me. It's hard to have a baby and be suddenly pushed to the side... does that sound selfish? Maybe it is, but it's an adjustment I'm still making. People are excited to see me, but they are WAY more excited to see Jack. I'm ok with that, but it's nice when he takes the time to make me feel important too :)
We were in Kansas City for Father's Day this weekend. Randy is another example of a great dad. How many sons have their dad as their best man in their wedding? I've never seen it. I think it speaks volumes on their relationship.
So Happy Father's Day to all the Father's in my life. I love you all!

3 Months
3 months old already!!!! Again, I can't believe it. I'm amazed by Jack every day. He's so much more alert and aware of things today then he was 1 week ago, let alone 1 month ago! It's absolutely nuts.
Stats (unofficial):
Height: 25 1/2"
Weight: 14lbs 1oz
Head: 41cm
Since we don't go back until his 4 month appt. I took the measurements myself. Which brings up a funny story. About 1-2 weeks ago, I grabbed Jack and weighed him. I came out and told Craig he was 12.5 lbs. He made fun of me, and how did I even think that was accurate. I kind of blew it off, as in he was referring to if our scale was accurate or not. We got to talking about it again this past weekend with some people. And I realized what he thought I did. Craig thought I took Jack in and set him on the scale and got the weight that way, it never crossed his mind that I first weighed myself (I number I will NEVER disclose) and then weighed myself hold Jack and subtracted the numbers. He cracks me up.
Jack is starting to become a little more tolerant of my photo sessions. He'll be a model someday.
We just started the Bumbo chair last week... it's amazing how much stronger/controlled he is in just 3 days with that thing! Here's a pic from the first time I put him in the Bumbo... he freaking LOVED it, it was like a whole new world to him! (Although you wouldn't think that from the picture...)

The Most Wonderful Thing About Tigger
Is that I'm the only one!!!!! Jack likes when I sing this to him, or maybe its the whoo whoo WHO! part at the end he likes. He's starting to grab things. Specifically the rings on his floor gym and the giraffe on his changing table and starting to GIGGLE! It is the sweetest most amazing sound in the world. He giggles for Daddy a lot, he only giggles for me when I giggle. His smiles come pretty readily these days. It's so great. I especially enjoy how his face just lights up when I go in his room in the morning, or how excited he gets when Craig comes home.
He's turned towards our voices for awhile now, but now he looks for us. Like if he's sitting across the room and I say something, he looks around to find me and then smiles. It's so great.
He's coo'ing these days and "chatters". He loves when you "motorboat" his lips and sticks his tongue out. He's a real person in there, and I can see his personality developing.

Water Baby
We took Jack back up to the pool this weekend. Turns out the kid is a fish! He really liked the water. We took him over to the splash pad first and stuck his feet in the water. He pulled back a bit at first, but then kept sticking his feet back in the water, so we decided to try the pool. He loved it and floated around for about 15 minutes before he fell asleep.
Frolicking with Daddy
Snoozing after all that swimming
Catching some rays
(Don't worry, he was only laying like this for 2 minutes while I took his wet bottoms off and put on a new diaper, don't need anyone calling child services on me!)
I think Jack is ready to be the cheese cup to Dad's pretzel at Grandpa and Grandma's in Florida!

Working For A Living
I've been "back to work" for about 2 months now. Initially it wasn't so bad. We had re-org'd while I was on maternity leave and my boss told me to lay low and get lost in the shuffle. Recently they've dug me out of my cave I was hiding in. It sucks. We are short staffed, so I've been working 8-5:30, taking a break and getting back on after Jack goes to bed and working another 2-4 hours. I know I shouldn't complain, I realize how lucky I am that I get to stay home with Jack, but being a "Stay at home mom" who works from home presents its own challenges. I'm working a full-time job, while taking care of Jack (TOTALLY NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THAT PART), in addition to those 2 jobs, there is a house to take care of. It's hard to justify not doing anything around the house when I'm here all day, but in reality I wouldn't be doing anything around the house if I was going to work.
It's hard, but the fact that this is what my office looks like some days makes it a little less crappy...

Jack's Tongue
Currently Jack's favorite thing to do is stick out his tongue. It's been a recent discovery of his, and he loves to poke it out all the time. I couldn't resist a picture of him looking like his frog shirt.
30 Minute Dash
Jack is a GREAT sleeper... at night. Not so much when it comes to naps. Or maybe its normal for babies to only nap for 30 minutes, 45 if I'm REALLY lucky. He sleeps anywhere from 9-11 hours at night and then takes 4-5 30 minute naps per day. This sounds like a lot of sleep, but in reality it just isn't. It's become a game for me, Jack falls asleep in my arms and I GENTLY try to lay him down in his crib without waking him... I've got about a 50% success rate with this. Then I make a mad dash through the house, throwing laundry in or moving it, emptying garbage, doing dishes, prepping for dinner, shoving food in my face... basically whatever I can get crammed into my 30 minute window before he wakes up. My house isn't clean, or even picked up, but this face makes it worth it.

Getting Strong
Jack's getting pretty good at holding his head up. We like to do some tummy time on the boppy.
He's still pretty excited about these mouse ears
