Maine and Boston Trip

It's been awhile since I've updated, because we went on Jack's first vacation.  We flew into Boston and drove up to Rockland, Maine with another family and their 10 month old son, Liam.  Jack had a lot of firsts on this trip.

He went on his first plane ride, and was nothing short of AWESOME on the plane.  He pretty much slept the whole time, and when he wasn't asleep, he was his usual charming self, smiling for people.

Our first night in Maine was rainy and cool, a nice break from the heat wave we've had all summer.  Pictures of us at dinner, after traveling all day.

After our first meal of FRESH seafood and a good nights sleep, Jack was all smiles.

Until we got out the cameras, tried to pose the boys in their coordinating "lobster" outfits, and Liam stole Jack's shoe.  (He thought it was pretty tasty).

We went to Lobster Fest, I unfortunately don't have pictures from this (yet) since I didn't think to charge the camera battery.  I'll post pictures our friend's took for us that day in a later blog after I get them.  We then took off for Portland, Maine.  After we got settled in the hotel, we took off to wander Portland.

While in Portland, we drove around and visited various lighthouses.  Jack traveled well for the majority of the drives, sleeping most of the time.

We stayed on Portland for 2 days, and then drove back down to Boston.  We made a detour through Salem, Massachusetts so Jack could do some witch hunting on the way.  In Boston we toured the Sam Adams Brewery.

We did a lot of walking, let me rephrase we did A LOT of walking in Boston.  We did the Freedom Trail, which takes you through the city past all the historic places, like Paul Revere's house, the sight of the Boston Massacre, the Old North Church (where they hung the lantern to signal the British were coming), cemeteries were people such as Paul Revere, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams are buried.  And various other spots, such as photo ops with giant bear statues outside a children's hospital.

We drove up to Cape Cod one day to tour the Cape Code Chip factory and go to the beach.

We took a ferry ride across the harbor in Boston, and toured the USS Constitution and another war ship.

We had a great time, and got to see so much.  (And eat way too much)  It was definitely more difficult to travel with a child, especially two children, who weren't really on the same schedule.  But we made it work and came back with 500+ pictures.
